Talmud says that when Adar month comes our merriment increases.
Most likely old sages meant the merriest Jewish Holiday Purim by that.
During Purim we remember the events that took place in centuries-old times.
The holiday reminds us that even we live in different part of the world
we are united with our life style defined by Torah. And when Jews keep
within Torah's commandments nothing could stop us: neither governments
nor people. Hesed "Rachel" and Jewish Center "Habad Lyubavich"
wished everybody happy Purim. Those people who came to celebrate Purim
were presented beautiful post cards with graters.
Children smiles, laugh, costumes and running about reminded
us about the purpose of the holiday.
Naturally Rabbi Samuel Karnaukh was in the center of attraction;
and when he started reading the Ester's Roll everybody became very quiet
and could hear and understand every single world. Time to time when Aman's
name was pronounced, the audience burst with loud laugh. And everybody
was listening attentively to Ester's words, which have been repeated for
thousand years.
After reading Ester's Roll Irina Tveritneva Director of Community
Center reminded the history of Purim and announced the beginning of Purimshpil.
"Ding-dong! Ding-dong! We're starting our show! Shalom!" -
with these words personages of Megila ran into the stage. The children
showed a comic show. There was a stupid tsar Ahashverosh (Casha Belous)
and beautiful Ester (Lenochka Sidorovskaya), and wise Mordekhay (Styepa
Mikhailenko). And when a spiteful Aman (Stas Yevseyev) came to the stage
all audience stamped their feet simultaneously and cracked with the rattles.
After that Ester accused Aman in all misdeeds and Ahashverosh ordered
to hang him. And the scarecrow of Aman was taken to the stage; the hall
was full of noise, the audience was yelling and whistling. At the end
of Purimshpil people sang songs "Ani Purim", and "Hag Purim".
After that an evening meal with congratulations started.
And everywhere you could hear people laughing, joking and singing Jewish
songs. And when the music stopped rabbi Shmuel came to the stage and all
Community started clapping.
Mordekhay and Ester told Jews to celebrate Purim every year
and never forget how sorrow and weeping turned to victory and happiness.
