of January there was 70th jubilee of Naum Grigiryevich Shaffer, the
professor of the Pavlodar State University, a specialist in study of literature,
philologist, musicologist
He is the first-rate researcher of the music of Dunayevskiy, a
scientist with encyclopedic knowledge, a wonderful teacher, an outstanding composer,
and an owner of the unique record collection. He is well known in creative circles
of Pavlodar City. The celebration of his jubilee took part on 18 January 2001
in museum named after Bukhar Zhirau.
Naum Shaffer is always ready to share his knowledge, to help everybody
who needs his help. Many people said a lot of warm words to him and wished him
all the best. Jewish Community Center, Slavic Cultural Center, Music College,
Music Schools, his ex-colleagues, poets, journalists, photographers - that is
the short list of the people who celebrated him.
Natalya Mikhailovna Kapustina, his spouse (they have been living
together for 50 years) said some special words for him.
The evening passed very quickly, and when it was over everybody felt like they
were ready to spend with Shaffer as much time as they did before.
