The life of Jewish people in Egypt, birth of a child, Moses
and the burning bush, Exodus of Jewish people from Egypt - all these
are not the names of the chapters of the Bible. These are the names of
the pictures exhibited on the First Republican Contest of Children Art
"Shalom Khaverim!" conducted during the Pesach holiday by Jewish
Community Center "Rimon".
In the lobby of Children Republican Library there were 75
pictures of young artists.

"I am happy that many young artists managed not only
just draw subject of Pesach but they breathed a new life in it,"
said the Chairman of Jury, - It was very difficult for us to define
which picture is the best". Every child picture is the new perception
of characters and history of Jewish people. We can see a whole inward
life in their pictures.
As they say, a competition is a competition, and someone
has to win. The ceremony of rewards began from the youngest participants.
The best in the first age group (under 8) was Yana Fisher (the first place,

presents.
In the second age group the pictures were more professional
and participants were from different regions of Kazakhstan: Almaty, Ust-Kamenogorsk
City, Aktobe City, Pavlodar City, Shymkent City and Kokshetau City. 23
pictures from this category (age between 9-11) were presented at the exhibition.

Pesach is a holiday dedicated to Jewish emancipation from
more than 400-year slavery. Children seemed to be real connoisseurs of
performing this holiday. It was not difficult for them to answer the question
concerning preparations for Seder, what kind of food should be on a dish
for Seder - keara. Both children and adults enjoyed games, dances
and songs. Adults were really surprised with their children and grandchildren
knowledge of the history of Jewish people.
I was looking at the pictures when I noticed a boy about 6 years old,
who was looking at the picture " A stick turning into ugly serpent".
And when I asked him what was so interesting in it. He answered without
even turning his head: "It looks exactly like an alive snake!"

P.S. When the Festival was over the best pictures were
exhibited in the exhibition hall of the Jewish Community Center. During
the opening of the exhibition prizes of sympathy were awarded to the participants.
