This
program offers support from volunteer physicians and includes consulting
and distribution of necessary medications and also implements health education
to Community members.
Medical consultations are given to all Hesed clients who
need them, including children under 7 - participants of Mazal Tov
Program. Volunteer physicians are specialists in different fields; they
consult at home, at Hesed and in clinics.
Medications are distributed to Hesed clients according to
physician's prescription taking into account type of disease and their
financial situation. And it allows supporting old people. In wintertime
when cold and flu are widespread the clients can get influenza medicine,
vitamins and adjuvant.
Needy old people can also get help in receiving expensive
medical examinations.
Since September 2002 "Diabetics Club" started
working in Hesed Polina. Today it includes 30 people. Members of the club
meet once a month. Experienced doctors hold conversations on the diabetic's
way of life, tell about the disease in details, describe the way ill people
should take care of themselves. The head of the club is Malka Yakovlevna
Shteinberg.
Every week an experienced psychologist Irina Grigoryevna Zaltsman conducts
seances of "Psychological Relief". They help to relieve the
stress and improve capacity for work. Lectures of an experienced therapeutist
Lena Davidovna Pritsker devoted to "Prophylaxis of Influenza"
and "Osteochondritis" are also of great use. Meetings are held
in the Day Center of Hesed "Polina".
