Community programs has began working in Kokshetau five years ago. Great experience in celebrating traditional holidays in "Hatikva" Jewish Cultural Center helps to create a warm atmosphere of a home open for the whole community.
Main tasks of JCC are:
- Revealing Jewish identity, feeling of proud for their people
and belonging to it.
- Returning to Jewish Tradition, history, and religion;
- Creating the community, uniting the Jews. Attracting all
generations to participate in JCC programs.
JCC has the following programs:
Library program - monthly survey of new books, discussion of new numbers of "Davar", "Shalom", "Lechaim" newspapers. Book exhibitions timed to holidays and memorable days, lectures on the topic Famous Jews. At present the library stock has 745 books of Jewish authors and on Jewish subjects. The librarian is Nina Popkova.
Religious program - The Jews of Kokshetau are a young and quickly growing community. Thanks to the active work of the Hesed "Natan" and JCC the Jews return to the Tradition. In order to help people to gain an understanding of the new information, the staff of Jewish welfare organizations launches new programs. The meetings are held once a week. With the help of the club the community gets acquainted with the Jewish Tradition. The club is headed by Alexandr Rybin.
Historical club - consists of 25 people. They study Jewish history, culture, and Tradition. The head of historical club is Nina Popkova.
"Tsimes" culinary club - meetings are arranged twice a month. The club issues a wall newspaper and culinary album. Club members learn the rules of Kashruth and demonstrate their skills on Kabbalat Shabbat. Club leader is Lidiya Chernyavskaya.
Family club "Shalom, mishpacha
Iudi" ; - presents talks about Jewish family, bringing up children and grandchildren. Club members celebrate anniversaries and birthdays, as well as professional holidays - Teacher's Day, Doctor's Day, Elderly Person's Day etc. They arrange farewell parties to those leaving for Israel.
"Anahnu" youth club works out youth programs, reads Torah chapters, studies the Jewish Tradition, language, culture; there are dance and vocal bands. The club members gather 8 times a week.
